A massive list of the most beautiful streets in the entire world was recently published, and New York State has not one but two impressive entries.

While it's hard to argue with the streets that made the list, it also seems like the editors missed some big opportunities. Let's check out their nominations, and then gaze at some other New York streets that should have been highlighted.

Beautiful Streets in New York State

When looking at the list, it's clear that New York State is in some very good company. From the impressive mountain peaks of the Swiss Alps to the pastel houses of Brazil (above), there are some seriously picturesque streets across the globe. But back to New York...

Washington and Water Street in Brooklyn, NY

The two "official" New York entries on the list are both located in New York City. While they are certainly beautiful (the intersection of Washington and Water Street in Brooklyn, NY, above, was near the top of the nominees), it seems like the natural beauty of New York State could add even more interest to a street than even the Brooklyn Bridge.

Central Park West in New York

The second official entry, Central Park West in Manhattan, is definitely the more bucolic of New York's nominated streets. The combination of one of the countries largest urban parks with the glamour of New York City is undoubtedly a winning combination, but authors of the list should have also turned their gaze slightly north.

Beautiful Hudson Valley, NY Roads

Less than 100 miles north of new York City, hidden backroads in the Hudson Valley are challenging even the mighty Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge in terms of pure beauty. The twisting turns of 44-55 as it summits the Shawangunk Ridge (above) and nearly any tree-lined back road with rolling fields (below) are both enough to stop any driver in their tracks.

There's so much beauty in the state(and so many beautiful roads) that while the list published by Architectural Digest is a fantastic place to start, New York needs to be personally explored in order to find the most splendor. Check out some great ways to begin below.
