Microbreweries are very popular these days. As a matter of fact we have more than 50 of them showing up at The Hudson River Craft Craft Brew Festival in Beacon on 9/20. But according to The Poughkeepsie Journal, starting in 2015 there will be a new local brewery right here in the Hudson Valley at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

Governor Cuomo signed a bill today allowing the school to sell alcohol on campus. This is a great opportunity for students of the Culinary to explore the beer brewing process. The brewery will be run in conjunction with Brooklyn Brewery and the school will be offering courses in craft beer making.

New York state now has more than 100 microbreweries.

Here's a look at the history of craft beer in the US.
