Broadway Shuts Down Through Mid-April

Just a couple days after discounted tickets were announced for Broadway shows, it has been announced that Broadway theaters will go dark.

Playbill reports that on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 5 p.m. Broadway theaters will be shut down. This comes from an order of Governor Andrew Cuomo suspending gatherings of large amounts of people. Performances are slated to resume the week of April 13, 2020.

According to Playbill, ticket holders should contact their point of purchase to settle refunds and exchanges. It is unclear when theaters will resume operations. Multiple shows were slated to start performances or previews. Sows like A Soldier's Play and The Inheritance were supposed to have their final shows on March 15.

This is the first time that Broadway theaters will shut down for a long period since the stagehand strike of 2007. According to Playbill, theaters were closed for 19 days.
