What Happened To The ‘Newish’ Soap Store In Poughkeepsie?
What happened to that cool soap store in Poughkeepsie? That's what people in the area are asking after noticing that the Route 9 South storefront looked appeared to be closed recently.
The Buff City Soap Story
Just before the holiday season in 2021, a new and exciting business brought fresh scents and some unique products to the Hudson Valley.
As they say, 'our Soap Makeries are where we help make life smell wonderful, one plant based, hand-crafed product at a time. Now, a 'Soap Makery' is how the folks at Buff City refer to their stores. Their products, vegan, cruelty-free, free of chemicals, and handmade in store. Featuring shower gels, scrubs, bath bombs, car fresheners, home cleaning products, laundry soap and more.
Buff City Soap, Poughkeepsie, 2021-2025
Buff City Soap had been operating on a busy stretch of South Road (aka Rt. 9 south) since fall 2021, but it seems like they recently quietly shuttered, perhaps within the past few days.
Seemingly without notice, the 2609 South Road Crossing location has closed their doors for goof. The Poughkeepsie location no longer appearing on the store locator section of the Buff City Soap official website and showing up as 'permanently closed' when you do a google search for that specific location. The local Instagram page for the Poughkeepsie store has also been wiped.
The news comes as a surprise to shoppers, some of whom indicated that there was no sign of a store closure, reporting that they shopped in store last week.
The Kingston, NY location is still operating, as well as the Cortland Crossing and Rye Brook locations, according to the Buff City Soap website.
