Last week there was a fake news story alluding that one of the most popular candies ever was going to no longer be produced. After doing some research, we are pleased to be able to confirm that Reese's Peanut Butter cups will continue to be produced.

During one week of sales, August 2017, Hershey (the company that owns Reese's) sold more than $47 million in that one particular candy. Think that they are really going to be wanting to get rid of it?

So we asked what candy that you think should no longer exist or be taken off store shelves. Here is a glimpse into just some of the responses that we got:

  • Mary Jane's Peanut Butter Kisses. You might remember these things as the candies that appear at Halloween in the orange and black wax paper wrappers.
  • Necco wafers. Does anyone actually like these?
  • Smarties. One person called in to say that she works at a store and she is constantly refilling the Smarties. She wants to get rid of them, but only because she has to refill the shelves constantly.
  • Tim in Kingston texted in and said, "Milk duds need to go. They are way too chewy and difficult to eat, and that out weighs the taste."
  • Jen in Pine Bush said, "Mike and Ike." To which a few people also mentioned Good & Plenty
  • Beth in Hawley, thinks Nerds and Fun Dip should be eliminated
  • Other candies that you told us should "GO!" are Tootsie Rolls, Sugar Babies, Sweet Tarts and the one everyone loves to hate, Candy Corn.

Did we miss the candy that you think should cease to exist? Is there one listed that you think we should give a second chance? Email Brandi@wrrv.com or Nick@wrrv.com.
