Photos: Another Big Step in Orange County’s Massive Park Project
The Town of Newburgh's impressive multi-million dollar project at Chadwick Lake now seems to be progressing in leaps and bounds.
The project, which was supposed to begin in September, started months earlier instead. While some residents expressed surprise at the jumpstart, there was a clear strategy behind the move.
Progress Continues on Community Center at Chadwick Lake in Newburgh
The summer start was meant to avoid any potential pauses in construction once the cold winter months froze the earth that construction crews needed to excavate. Since the foundation was able to be set early, work on the hulking structure has been steadily proceeding.

While there have already been months of hard work poured into the project, the community center, which is being built on the footprint of a former hockey rink and outdoor fitness area, has recently undergone huge visual progress as well (below).
The framing of the large structure seems to be nearly complete, but of course there are still months of work ahead. The $12-million project will continue progress through the winter, with a target completion date of July 2025.
Many residents are eager to see what additional benefits the new community center will bring to the park that already has a stellar record of public events. Check out more Hudson Valley parks below.
