Though there's a bit of controversy about if there really is a true 'kitten season,' here in the Hudson Valley, there's no shortage of adorable little ones this time of year.

Plenty of local shelters, especially the Dutchess County SPCA in Hyde Park, have cats and kittens up for adoption at the moment, but the crew we're talking about today, they have a pretty special story.

Hopelessly Devoted to The Dutchess County SPCA 'Grease' Kittens

This crew of 'Greasers' are so lucky that a good samaritan found them under a shed and brought them into the Dutchess County SPCA for critical care. According to the team in Hyde Park they were found without a mom and likely wouldn't have survived much longer on their own.

Little Frenchy, Rizzo, Sandy, Kenickie and of course Danny - these five cuties will soon be available for adoption, but not without thanks to the good citizen who found them, and those who donated funds and supplies to care for them.

Cute is the word for these kittens, but they are only a few of many, many that are found helpless outside this time of year. They were lucky because someone found them and brought them to us, but many more are not so lucky. It is so important not to ignore stray or feral cats that people might see in their neighborhood. Getting those cats neutered will help reduce the number of kitten litters that overrun our county every year. DCSPCA offers guidance and traps to help care for our community cats.

This is the message that DCSPCA Executive Director Lynne Meloccaro wants people to know when it comes to cats and kittens in the community and how we can all help the stray population.
