
Urgent Plea for Dutchess County Dog After Heartbreaking Rescue
The Dutchess County SPCA s asking for the public's help after a dog was rescued in one of the most surprising and remarkable ways.
As the DCSPCA shared, the dog, named Cookie, had already led a life of confinement and neglect before the unthinkable happened... and he was nearly left to die.

SPCAs and other rescue and shelter organizations across the Hudson Valley work tirelessly to make sure as many animals as possible find the loving homes they deserve. Unfortunately for Cookie, the young dog had suffered nearly his whole life.
Cookie the Dog Rescued from Severe Neglect in Dutchess County
"At 5 months old, Cookie the puppy had spent his whole life locked in a crate", the DCSPCA shared on Facebook (below). "No walks. No attention... He survived on scraps of food tossed into his cage." Then, the situation went from bad to worse.
Dutchess County Dog Rescued After Being Stranded in Crate
The post reported that Cookie's owner died unexpectedly, leaving the five-month-old puppy alone in his cage with nobody aware of the his situation. Though he was thankfully rescued days later, Cookie is now facing a long road to recovery.

In addition to being underweight, the DCSPCA says Cookie's starvation has led to a dangerous case of pancreatitis, and has turned to the public for donations to help with his continued care.
