What to do in Vegas When You Win WRRV Life is Beautiful Flyaway

WRRV will be sending one winner and a guest to the Life is Beautiful Music festival in Las Vegas. The festival will be taking place September 23-25, 2016 and a few of the headliners include, The Lumineers, Jane's Addiction and Mumford & Son's. The festival will be taking place in and around the 18 blocks of Las Vegas known as the 'Downtown' or Freemont District.

So what else do you want to do in the area other than listen to some great music? Here are a few suggestions:

Avoid playing the slot machines at the airport. Trust me there will be enough time for that when you get to the hotel and walking around town.
Walk around Downtown and make sure to bring your camera. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos with men and women who look like they are from the band KISS, but don't want to wear clothing. Think of this as a Las Vegas version of Times Square Elmo.
Do you like beef jerky? Or jerky of any kind? In the downtown area there is one store that has the most diverse and possibly largest selection of jerky in one spot. It is simply called, The Beef Jerky Store. They are located at 112B N 3rd St, Las Vegas, 89101. If you start thinking that you are buying too much, they will also ship it back so you don't have to shove it in your carry on.
The Mob Museum. If you are a history buff or just want to learn about the mob or alleged mob connection to the building of Las Vegas, check this place out. It differs from the Museum of the American Gangster in NYC because it focuses soley on Vegas connections.
The Zipline Downtown is a great experience. Try to do it at night when they have all of the old neon signs lit up.
The food at Hash House a Go-Go at the Plaza Hotel. WOW. Probably the best Chicken & Waffles I have ever tasted. The portions are huge. Do yourself a favor and each person order an appetizer (and a martini or manhattan, or two) and then split an entree. Then come back here the next night and do the same thing over again.
