Busy Summer on Bannerman Island

The summer 2025 season was a busy one for Bannerman Island.

All season long they welcomed guests for tours, shows, movies and dinner parties all on the mysterious island that sits in the middle of the Hudson River.

Every year, from May through October guest can visit the island for a variety of reasons. Over the years they've hosted Titanic themed dinners and musical performances.

At Bannerman, they've also scheduled movie nights every few weeks throughout the season. Take a look at some of the classics they showed this year:

Dracula Takes Over Bannerman Island With Live Performance

From Tuesday, September 23rd through Thursday, October 2nd, Bannerman Castle Trust is inviting the public to take a "Hudson River sunset cruise aboard the BCT's RV Estuary Steward Tour Boat" that will lead to an experience of a lifetime.

A live performances to Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan.

The show stars Duane Boutté (Sex and the City, Alabama Shakespeare, Lincoln Center) as Jonathan Harker.

Harker, according to the press release, "finds himself being held captive by the eerie and cryptic Count, discovering horrific sights behind some of the castle’s closed doors. Only after he escapes his worst fear confirmed: Count Dracula is an undead creature of the night."

Spooky right?

The stage is set directly in front of the "historic Bannerman Residence (little castle) on Bannerman Island."

Tickets are available now at BannermanCastle.org and include the roundtrip cruise to and from Bannerman Island as well as the opportunity for guest to stroll through the gardens and Castle before the show.

Bannerman Islands Spooky History

While watching a live performance of Dracula on an island in the middle of the Hudson River is creepy in and of itself, the island has a spooky history of its own.

There are many legends that surround Bannerman Island like one report from Visit Vortex that alleges Native Americans believed Bannerman Island was possessed by evil spirits.

According to their sources, local tribes didn't want to be any where near the island.

Another popular tale is the goblin issue. In 2024, Bannerman posted the following status to Facebook:

Please stop asking about goblins on the Island.
It's just a legend! You probably won't see any when you visit (during the day)
Sounds like something someone with a goblin problem would say.
Legend has it that a tribe of goblins controlled the winds and the waters of the Hudson. But that's only legend...or is it?
