Exclusive WRRV Interview Featuring Scott From LaMP: New Music, Tour & More

I would love for you to meet some new friends on WRRV, this is LaMP! We got to chat with Scott from LaMP who shared personal stories about their band, upcoming tours and more.

Here's What We Know About Our New Friends From LaMP

You can listen to this exclusive interview as I shared everything relating to LaMP! I asked Scott to share some insight on himself and other members of the band. He highlighted that LaMP consists of Scott Metzger, Russ Lawton and Ray Packowski.

Scott mentioned that Ray is on keyboard, Russ plays drums and Scott on guitar! They are a mainly instrumental group.

 I was curious as to how LaMP got their name and Scott filled me in on the deets. He shared that they came up with a few different names and were using LaMP as a placeholder. After a while, they loved the name and how it reflects their last names including Lawton, Metzger and Paczkowski.

Scott mentioned that there is also a Japanese instrumental trio called Lamp! I shared that it would be fun for these two groups to get together and perform for both of their fan bases. Scott agreed and included that they could learn each other's songs and perform a lamp tour, haha.

What Upcoming Projects Can We Look Forward To From LaMP?

Scott shared that they look forward to creating “memorable melodies” for music lovers. He highlighted that Russ and Ray have been performing together for 30 years. Scott stated that he’s lucky to be with them and I believe that he brings his own energy and talent that adds to LaMP!

I mentioned that they have had some sold out shows recently. On the East Coast, we can look forward to seeing LaMP in New York State and also in New Jersey. I asked Scott what’s his favorite state or venue that he enjoys visiting. He mentioned that there is amazing food in New Orleans. Scott also shared that the food makes a city exciting and I agree! Although, he is focused on the gig and reminds himself of why he is on tour.

They are thankful for the packed houses!

I also asked Scott about new music or any insider deets about LaMP that we can look forward to. He shared that they are “currently playing four tunes”. He hopes that these will be on a recording in the future!

Since LaMP was formed in Vermont, I wanted to ask Scott of any top recommendations when visiting that area since I have never been before. He shared that his recommendation would be Nectar’s where they first came together. However, Nectar’s is closed and he suggested I chat more with Russ and Ray since they would have a better idea. Part two of a LaMP interview? Sounds good to me!

What Does Scott From LaMP Love The Most About The Hudson Valley?

As always, I love to hear what people think of this beautiful state that we live in. I enjoy finding out what visitors love the most about the Hudson Valley as well.

Scott shared that he has friends who live in the Woodstock area. He shared that its gorgeous there and how we are “living the dream”. I absolutely agree with Scott.

I invited not only Scott but Russ and Ray to the Hudson Valley area! It would be great to have them at the WRRV Studios at some point. You can also invite them to the Hudson Valley and share any recommendations that you have for them when they are here.
