It's pretty standard to hear about some unique write-in votes following an election, but the list that falls under this particular category from the New York City mayor race was expansive. Athletes from across three different sports, current and former players, living and dead, popped up as NYC mayoral candidates this year, let's break it down.

Major League Baseball:

  • Current New York Mets 1st baseman/free agent Pete Alonso
  • Former New York Yankees 1st baseman Lou Gehrig
  • Former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter
  • Current New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge
  • Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfredi
  • Current New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler
  • Former Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax

Bleacher Report indicated that Aaron Judge received a total of 11 write-in votes, while the Mets Pete Alonso received three.
