Early this evening, a car fire backed up traffic on Route 17, just before the exit to get onto 84.

I happened to be driving that way at the time and got caught up in traffic for a while. I don't have any details yet about how the fire got started, I only saw it after it happened. Above is video I took showing firefighters extinguishing the blaze, which sent highly visible black smoke into the sky. You can see some of the fire at the beginning of the video, and the smoke quickly turns white once the firefighters get to work.

If more details become available about the fire, I'll update this post. But we can at least be grateful that the firefighters were able to work as quickly as they did.
