FOX Series Seeking 'Small-Town Types' and Nosy Neighbors For Series

A FOX series titled 'Best Medicine' will be filming in New York, now through the holidays, and recently put out what some are referring to as a 'unique' casting call.

Production is especially seeking small-town types, nosy neighbors, friends, and fishing village looks - warm, interesting faces of all backgrounds and ethnicities.

The Hudson Valley Film Commission Actors and Crew group on Facebook, who shared the information, indicated that no acting experience is required, just a great attitude and reliability.

There are two different 'actors intake' forms on the post, one for adults 18 and up, and another for kids aged five to 17. A quick glance at the adult intake form reveals the usual demographic information, but then asks about make/model/year/color descriptions of vehicles, because sometimes cars are needed on the set. The application does state that there is a 'pay bump if hired with car.' They also ask about boats and experience with 'lobstering.'

Preliminary dates for filming show a range of dates July 23rd through August 18th.

The 411 on the New Josh Charles Medical Comedy

IMDB reports that Best Medicine will follow a 'brilliant surgeon who leaves Boston to become a small-town doctor where he spent childhood summers. Despite his medical skills, his rude manner alienates locals as he battles hidden phobias and struggles with personal connections.'

Starring Josh Charles and Dr. Martin Best, along with Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts and Josh Segarra, the series is said to be an American reboot of 'Doc Martin,' a popular British series that was released in the early 2000s.

TV Insider shared that the series will launch during the 2025-2026 season as part of the midseason lineup, and must like the very popular Fox series 'The Resident' will be a one-hour comedy-doctor show.
