Tuesday's fire in the Village of Wappingers has displaced 29 people, all of which could really use your help.

The devastating fire started in the middle of the day on Tuesday at 10 Market Street in the Village of Wappingers. Flames shot out of the two stories of apartments above Mario's Sandwich Company and TJ's Barber Shop as residents clung to each other, watching helplessly as all of their possessions burned in the fire.

An anonymous list of those displaced by the fire was posted by the Wappingers Rises Facebook page. The organization is asking people to "adopt" family members and assist them with basic necessities like toiletries, pillows, clothing, towels and more.

A Go Fund Me has also been set up by Wappinger Town Supervisor, Dick Thurston. Money collected from the fund will go towards recovery efforts for residents and businesses affected by the fire.

In addition to these efforts, local businesses are also pitching in to help out. County Fare on East Main Street will be hosting a raffle after the St. Paddy’s parade on March 7th. All proceeds will be used to help the families of those displaced by the fire.

Cousin's Ale Works on Route 9 has designated themselves as a drop off location for donations. Gift card and cash donations can be brought to the brewery, as well as clothing donations

Mamma Musetti's on East Market Street is collecting gift cards to assist the families who have been affected by the fire. All of the cards collected will be dropped off to the Wappinger Town Hall to assist in their fundraising efforts.

More fundraisers are being planned to help the village residents and business owners recover from the disaster. We will update this page as more information is made available.
