Newburgh Teacher Honored as May’s WRRV Homeroom Hero!
We’re excited to celebrate another incredible educator as part of WRRV’s Homeroom Heroes program! This year, we partnered with Mid-Hudson Pump Co. LLC to recognize Hudson Valley teachers who make a lasting impact on their students and school communities. After receiving so many heartfelt nominations, we’re proud to honor Maggie Frazer of Temple Hill Academy with a $250 prize as our newest Homeroom Heroes inductee!
Maggie has loved music and being in an orchestra her whole life, so she is so happy to be able to teach it now! She thanks her high school orchestra teacher, Mrs. Rymph, for this passion and drive to continue years later. In her four years of teaching at Temple Hill Academy, she has grown their orchestra from under 20 students to an ever-growing total of around 60 students! This is no simple feat, and takes incredible guidance and dedication from an educator to foster a learning environment that encourages students to grow and thrive, all while having fun at the same time!
Maggie says, "I feel very lucky that I get to work with my students from 4th grade through 8th grade because not every teacher gets to have their students for more than one year. I also get to see my students teach each other when I have my middle schoolers work with the elementary orchestra kids. This started with three students helping in my first year, and now, almost all of my upper-middle school students want to help! My program started super small when I got here and I'm happy to say it has definitely grown quite a bit; but more than that I'm really proud to be their orchestra teacher and of the connection that I have with my students."

Maggie was nominated by her father, Paul, who lovingly shared:
"My daughter Maggie has been teaching at Temple Hill Academy for 4 years. She is going well above and beyond in her duties as an orchestra teacher for orchestras from 5th to 8th grade. When she came to the Temple Hill Academy, she had less than 20 students in her orchestra programs, and in just four years she has grown her orchestra program to almost 60 kids! She recently received a grant and was able to form an electric orchestra complete with drums, guitars, and string instruments. My daughter, Maggie, has the drive it takes to be successful not only in Newburgh but wherever her career takes her. She has extremely hard and strong work ethics; she's always the first one in and the last one to leave; constantly picks up supplies out of her own pocket; and always provides the kids parties after concerts and at the end of semesters. She's a truly dedicated teacher and I'm proud to see her be so successful."
