Honoring WRRV’s Latest Homeroom Hero: David Love!
WRRV is proud to recognize another outstanding educator through our Homeroom Heroes program! In partnership with Mid-Hudson Pump Co. LLC, we continue to celebrate teachers across the Hudson Valley who go the extra mile to inspire, support, and make a difference in the lives of their students. Thanks to the many thoughtful nominations we’ve received, we’re thrilled to honor David Love of Oakwood Friends School with a $250 prize as our latest Homeroom Heroes inductee!

David is known throughout the school community for his positive attitude, dedication to his students, and commitment to helping others. Beyond the classroom, he leads community service initiatives with students, including a program that prepares and delivers meals to a local community fridge, making a meaningful impact on those in need. His kindness, enthusiasm, and willingness to go above and beyond have made him a favorite among students, colleagues, and the broader community!
David is honored and humbled to be recognized as one of the Hudson Valley's Homeroom Heroes. David states,
I have taught science at the Oakwood Friends School since 2023, and I can honestly say it has been the happiest chapter of my life. I spend every day laughing and brainstorming with my students. We spend a lot of time thinking of new initiatives for keeping our corner of the world sustainable for people and nature alike. Our latest endeavor will be installing bat boxes around our campus so that bats can rest here after their long migration. To work with children is to be reminded of the goodness of the human spirit at every turn. I'm so thankful to WRRV for recognizing my efforts, and those of my fellow teachers!

David was honored by fellow Oakwood Friends School staff member and school counselor, Giana Flocco-Quinn, who shared,
David is such a beloved science teacher. Every student wants him as a teacher and he has such a terrific attitude at all times. The happiest person I have ever met. Students confine to him and appreciate all his work. Students also love his daughter, Bertha, the beagle. He is all around an amazing human who would go above and beyond to always support his students, coworkers, and community. David runs our community fridge group with students, where they buy, create and deliver meals to our local fridge for anyone in the community can take from. He has a deep love for everything he does and does it all with a smile.
