I have to start off by saying how much I appreciate bus drivers in the Hudson Valley and beyond. I honestly don't think you get enough credit for the difficult and stressful job you have. Driving a large vehicle is already difficult but hauling people around every single day must make it even more strenuous especially when they are in a hurry. However, bus drivers are humans doing a a very human job for now. Driving.

There are other people commuting on the roadways and most of us are extremely accommodating when trying to pass you.

Drivers can be absolute lunatics in the summer months. I didn't think I was being one but I found myself drag racing a local bus driver here in Dutchess County. Spoiler Alert: I lost.

One local bus driver either didn't see me trying to pass or saw me and totally ignored me and almost scraped the side of my car.

I was driving on Rte 9 in Poughkeepsie and the lanes were congested. I was stuck in the right lane behind a bus for a while as it was at a complete stop. The bus was half way in the right lane at the stop. When it was finally clear in the middle lane I decided to pass. As I was on the side of the bus I heard it starting to take off. Not only did the bus floor it but while it was merging back in the lane it nearly hit me. I don't know if I was in the driver's blind spot or if we were drag racing. Either way it was frustrating and like all incidents in a car it felt personal even though I have no way of proving that. Even if it wasn't it was still dangerous.

Many of us have been cut off by large vehicle before. Should I call and be a narc or let it go? The number is right there. I would just hate to have someone's job in jeopardy over an honest mistake.

Could I have been at fault here? Has something like this happened to you? What did you do about it?
