Popular Halloween Celebration Puts Out A Call for Candy
It has been a while since I have had a trick-or-treater at my house on Halloween. I do live a bit off the beaten path, so even when the kids on the mountain were young enough to trick-or-treat, it was always a drive-by on the way to one of the Hudson Valley's largest Halloween gatherings.
Big New Paltz Trick-or-Treating Event Returns
The Village of New Paltz is known for its Halloween festivities, which I am confident will be back on the calendar again this year. Typically, there is a giant parade that steps off at the middle school on Main Street and travels down to the village, where it makes a turn and heads to the old village hall.
One of the newer events that has become a must-attend is Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street. This event is before the parade in town. It is held on Halloween from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. This allows children and families to seek goodies from the folks who live on Historic Huguenot Street in homes both new and old.
Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street Back on October 31st, 2025
Once again this year, Huguenot Street has announced that for the third year in a row, they are partnering with Mark's Hotdogs. Huguenot Street will be adding From the Ground Up Food Truck this year to join Mark's Hotdogs. Both vendors will be on hand from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. They will be part of the trick-or-treating and then the after-parade party at Huguenot Street.

Trick-or-Treating on Huguenot Street is a free event and open to the public. This makes it a great event, but also a bit of a challenge to gauge and get enough goodies for everyone without some help from the community. So what do they need? First, let them know you are coming. Please RSVP HERE. They want to be sure to have enough treats.
Huguenot Street Needs Candy Donations For Halloween Event
Secondly, they need candy and non-candy donations to hand out to the visitors. Every year, the crowd gets bigger, so the need does too. Huguenot Street has put a call out to anyone who can spare some treats for the ghouls and goblins they are expecting.
If you can donate, there is a donation box set up in the Museum Shop at the DuBois Fort Visitors Center. Donations can be dropped off between 10 AM and 4 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, from now until October 31st!
For safety concerns, they can only accept factory-sealed bags of individually wrapped candies. They can't accept loose candy or large bags of unwrapped candy. Non-edible treats (like small toys and small crafts) for our Teal Pumpkin station for children with allergies are greatly appreciated as well. I will also throw out if you are sure what to get, maybe consider making a cash donation if it is easier.
