McDonald's recently added a new menu item and I needed to try it.

I love fast food. You've probably heard me talk on-air multiple times about different new offerings from chain restaurants and fast-food joints. The newest release in the fast-food world is from McDonald's. McDonald's has officially released their spicy chicken nuggets.

Earlier this year we reported that McDonald's would debut its new nuggets on September 16. And yes, they did come out that day. is McDonald's first variation of their famous chicken nuggets. The new nuggets have a tempura coating of cayenne and chili peppers. The nuggets also have a new hot sauce to pair with it. the sauce will be a new Mighty Hot Sauce that is a blend of crushed red pepper, spicy chilis, garlic, and a hint of sweetness. This is McDonald's first new sauce n three years. Of course, these nuggets will only be available for a limited time.

As the resident fast-food junkie of WRRV, I had to try them out. So on Thursday, September 17, I went to my local McDonald's in Poughkeepsie and got my spicy nuggets. I ordered a 10 piece, which cost $4.99 plus tax. Sauce came with it and I knew there was a new sauce but couldn't remember the name so I just went with their classic spicy Buffalo.

Overall? I was beyond disappointed. The nuggets were thin, had little spice, and didn't have much meat. When compared to Wendy's spicy nuggets, I feel those have a lot more meat and definitely have the spice. The price point for McDonald's nuggets also seemed high. Wendy's 10 piece spicy nuggets, when ordered in Poughkeepsie, are $4.69. 30 cents is 30 cents, and I'm all for saving money.

Would I get McDonald's spicy nuggets again? Probably not. I'll stick to their fries and call it a day.
