13 Year-Old Warwick, NY Girl Stuns Judges on NBC’s The Voice
Another Hudson Valley singer has made their way to The Voice stage, and they left quite the impression!
Hudson Valley + The Voice = Massive Talent
NBC's The Voice is no stranger to contestants from the Hudson Valley. Back in 2020, Saugerties native Ian Flanigan hit the reality television show stage and wowed the judges Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend with his smokey voice and cover of Zac Browns 'Colder Weather.'
Flanigan ended up teaming up with Blake Shelton and making it all the way to the Top 3 of that season. Since then, Ian has been crushing it in the country music, singer-songwriter world. He's also been seen occasionally around the Hudson Valley, over the summer was the opener for Michael Ray at Concert in The Catskills.
Now, another Hudson Valley local is ready to take on the competition...
13-Year-Old Warwick Singer Stuns 'Voice' Judges
The latest season of The Voice kicked off this month and we already have our favorite. This week during the Blind Auditions we met Julia Roome. The singer is 13 years old and is representing Warwick, New York on the NBC singing competition.
Julia hit the stage with her rendition of "Dream a Little Dream of Me." Not even 30 seconds into her audition, Niall Horan (popstar and former One Direction member) turned his chair around. Shortly after, Gwen Stefani wanted in on Julia Roome and turned her chair around too.
Horan goes on to say "I couldn’t tie my shoelaces at 13, and I still haven’t learned. The fact that you’re 13 and you sing like that makes me want to vomit… in a good way.”
Gwen Stefani ran across the stage to hug Room and give her all the props for having such a great voice at such a young age.
Those 2 chair turns sealed the deal solidifying Julia's spot on The Voice. Of course, she could only pick one judge as her Coach and she went with...Niall! You can watch her performance and the coach's reactions below:
Julia will now go on to the Battle Round and Knockouts, then, hopefully to the live performance shows.
