BJs Restaurant Closes In Beacon, NY After 47 Years Of Service

After 47 years, the owners of a Main Street Beacon restaurant have announced they have closed after a change in ownership.

Over the years, Beacon, NY, has gone through a couple of transformations that have made it one of the most popular places for tourists to visit. If you haven't noticed it yet, simply take a walk on Main Street over a weekend in the warmer months. There are people from all over the world strolling, shopping, and enjoying everything Beacon has to offer.

Yes, the transformation has been great, but there have been a few casualties as some businesses have closed since the "boom" in Beacon.

Popular Restaurants Close in Beacon, NY

Back in 2024, we learned that two popular Beacon restaurants would be closing. In April, it was announced that after 18 years, Max's on Main, located at 246 Main St, Beacon, NY, was closing. A few months later, the folks at Homespun Foods, located at 232 Main St, Beacon, NY, announced they would be closing as well. Both residents and tourists were sad to learn that both places were closing after providing great food.

BJ's Restaurant in Beacon, NY Has Closed

BJ's Restaurant, located at 213 Main Street in Beacon, NY, has closed, according to the Highlands Current. Owner Barbara Sims, who opened the restaurant in 1978, announced that she has sold the building on Main to a new owner who is expected to open a new restaurant soon.

It's unclear what type of restaurant it will be at this time.

Sims admitted that her age and health were factors in selling and told the Highlands Current that she’ll be 90 in September and said it didn't make sense for her to invest money into the older building. Reports state that the sale of the building, which was listed for $1.1 million, closed on December 31st, 2025.
