Upstate NY DA Now in Hot Water After New Police Body Camera Footage
Usually, when you hear someone went viral on social media, it's for a good reason. However, that's not the case for a District Attorney in Upstate New York.
Upstate, NY District Attorney Gets Pulled Over For Speeding
On Monday, April 22nd, 2024, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley was pulled over for speeding while on her way home near Webster, New York. According to WHAM News, DA Doorley was going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Speeding tickets are a common occurrence and while common, they're not fun to get. Recently released police body cam footage shows that DA Doorley was none too pleased with the attempted traffic stop.
We say attempted because according to the body cam footage, DA Doorley didn't stop for the police officer.
Body Cam Footage Goes Viral of DA Doorley's Traffic Stop
The body cam footage of the traffic stop was released and quickly went viral on social media. In the video, the police officer follows DA Doorley to her home.
When she exits her vehicle the officer asks why she didn't stop when he put on his lights to which she replies that she "didn't feel like it."

WHAM reports that while the officer was attempting to pull Doorley over she "called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier to inform him that she was not a threat" adding that she would talk to the officer when they arrived She said that she would talk to the officer at her house.
Since then, the body cam footage has gone viral and many in the Monroe County community aren't pleased with DA Doorley's behavior.

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley Apologizes
WHAM News obtained a press release by the City Council in which they write that they "stand united in their belief that Ms. Doorley’s conduct should be thoroughly investigated by the Attorney General" adding:
and that accountability in this matter would demonstrate that no one, regardless of their position, is above the law."
DA Doorley did release a statement through a spokesperson in which she admitted to speeding stating "Nobody, including your District Attorney, is above the rule of law, even traffic laws."
