
Man Charged With Arson After Wappinger Fire Kills Two People
A man has been arrested and charged with arson after police say he intentionally set a house on fire that resulted in the death of two people in Wappinger, New York.
According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), an arrest has been made in connection with a house fire that was allegedly intentionally set on Sunday evening.
House Fire in Wappinger, New York
First responders in and around the Town of Wappinger, NY were busy Sunday, January 26th, as they were called to respond to a report of a structure fire at a residence located at 78 Marlorville Rd at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The house fire reportedly took firefighters hours to fully extinguish and as they completed the massive task, an investigation began with a tragic discovery.
Two Killed in Wappinger House Fire
As deputies from the DCSO began its investigation into the fire alongside numerous other agencies it was announced that two victims were located inside the house, and both were deceased. Authorities didn't reveal either of the victim's identities but did say that they had arrested a man in connection to the fire.
Man Intentionally Set House on Fire
The DCSO has arrested 34-year-old Robert J. Buda in connection to the fire and has accused him of "intentionally setting fire to the residence." Buda was taken into custody by deputies and charged with Arson in the 2nd degree, a felony. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $500,000 cash bail or $1,000,000 bond.
Investigation Continues
The DCSO, along with multiple other agencies are actively investigating the fire and are asking for the public's help. Mr. Buda is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
