Roller Magic in Hyde Park, NY Closed

The roller skating rink located on Route 9 at 4178 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY, posted on its Facebook page that they are closed to the public, "effective immediately". The post didn't give any reason as to why the popular skating rink would be closing; it simply stated,

"Hello everyone, we would just like to announce to everybody that effectively immediately we are closed to the public. Any plans to reopen will be announced here."

Soon after seeing the post, we reached out to the owners through Facebook to see if we could find out what happened and if the roller rink had any plans to reopen soon, but we haven't heard back.

Many were sad to see the rink close, leaving comments on Facebook saying "I am heart broken! Thank you for everything!", "Noooo this is heart breaking I grew up there. My kids loved going there.", and "So sad! I was planning to skate tonight 😢 - I hope that this is very temporary. I consider Hyde Park my home roller rink."

Others asked questions about gift card refunds, with one person posting, "We are supposed to be having a birthday party there tomorrow. I will be needing a refund immediately."

Roller Magic has been a staple in the Hudson Valley for many years, and since they opened, they have had their share of ups and downs along the way.

Building Deemed Unsafe

Back in 2023, the roller skating facility had to close for a few days after it was reported that the building was deemed unsafe for occupancy by the town of Hyde Park's building inspector. Soon after, the rink announced it would reopen soon.

It's unclear if this closure has anything to do with the building itself or something else.

This is a developing story, and as more information becomes available, we will update this article.
