Even though most local school districts are on Spring Break already (this first week in April), the days seem to be getting longer and longer, and I know I'm not alone as a parent wondering 'what else can I do to occupy this kid until she goes back to school next Tuesday?'

When Was The Last Time You Visited A Local Library?

This is not an earth shattering suggestion, but I've noticed a number of local libraries have been hosting some pretty fun events for little ones during this break.  Last weekend the Poughkeepsie Public Library District even hosted a Book Festival with authors and characters and plenty of books for purchase.

Plus, and this is a pretty big one that not a lot of people take advantage of, your local library has TONS of discounted tickets and passes for local attractions, just for having a library card! Think museums, tours, even aquariums.

If your little ones do better at home, there's a lot of companies that offer to-go kits, where you get all the supplies necessary to create at home. One of our favorite local places for that is Sawdust & Glitter in Poughkeepsie!

Then of course there's these classic go-to Dutchess County based places that often run specials during school breaks.....
