West Main is gone, but the restaurant will soon reopen with a familiar name on the sign.

The Village of Wappingers Falls is in the middle of a renaissance. With new businesses and construction happening around the village, business is booming as the Hudson Valley has started to rediscover this hidden gem of a town in the middle of Dutchess County.

Recently the Village suffered a setback on their progress when West Main Kitchen and Bar decided to close their doors after five years. The award-winning restaurant has been sitting vacant since August. Now, however, it looks as though the location will soon see new life.

Just up the road, Cafe Maya is seeing tremendous success a decade after the well-known Mexican restaurant took over for a long line of failed businesses.  Could a new high-profile tenant bring the same success to the closed West Main location?

Stephano's Ristorante has just announced that they will be moving their Market Street location to West Main Street on October 27. A year ago Stephano's announced that they were shutting down the Market Street restaurant and returning to their old location on Middlebush Road. Construction looked to be underway and a sign even appeared in front of the restaurant before the project suddenly halted. It's unclear why the move never happened, but whatever the reason, this can only spell good news for the Village of Wappingers.

Stephano's has a very loyal following who return to the restaurant for their generous portions of Italian homestyle Italian food. The new location now has ample parking, a large bar area and more space for private events. Stephano's is already taking reservations for the new location.

According to their Facebook post, Stephano's is excited about the move, and we're pretty sure that their customers are as well.
