Top 12 Things to Give Up For Lent in 2022
How many of you have stuck to your New Year's Resolution? How many of you remember what it even was? To those of you who are stilling following through, kuddos to you! To those who lost their resolution along the way, do not worry, there is still hope (or at least another chance to drop it again, but let's try not to think like that).
This Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, which begins the Christian season of Lent. One thing many Christians do is take up a Lenten Sacrifice. A Lenten Sacrifice is a voluntarily renunciation of a pleasure or luxury. People take up Lenten Sacrifices with the mindset of achieving spiritual, emotional and/or physical growth. Growing up Catholic, this is nothing new to me. Each year, I have something to give up and to hopefully build upon.
Other people for Lent will take up some kind of Act of Faith, where they will engage in a certain activity or service to help others and better themselves. Common examples of this would be getting involved in charities and volunteering for various causes.
For the sake of this article, we will be focusing on the sacrifices, mainly. This list is comprised of the Lenten Sacrifices of people I have either talked with recently or I have seen frequently pop up on social media. Some of these are pretty common to me while a few others were surprises.
What do you think of this list? Are there other sacrifices that you would recommend? How have some of these sacrifices helped you in the past? Never hesitate to let us know!
