Liquor Store in Hudson Valley Supermarket Almost Ready to Open
Grocery shopping is about to get a lot more fun.
A Hudson Valley supermarket is now adding wine and hard liquor to your shopping list, and by the looks of things, the store may be ready by the holidays.
ShopRite in Poughkeepsie near the Galleria is currently putting the finishing touches on the new liquor store named "My Wine and Spirits." Because it's illegal for a grocery store to sell any alcohol besides beer and wine coolers, the ShopRite is technically subleasing the space to a separate business that will be selling the booze.
A section inside the existing ShopRite near the front of the store has been walled in and now contains shelves and racks that, according to the store's new website, will hold over 6,000 wine and spirits."
The website also says that tastings and samples will be given out from Thursday through Saturday at the store, something that should make your grocery shopping experience a bit more exciting.
On Monday crews were seen erecting a new sign outside the North entranceway to ShopRite, which was temporarily closed due to construction. In August, a ShopRite spokesperson told us that they were expecting the liquor store to open sometime in December. From the looks of it, the construction seems to be right on schedule.
