Local band "The Racer" performed a killer set at WRRV Sessions just over a year ago, putting together a great set for the home town crowd. And it looks like they haven't let much grass grow under their feet.

They've been premiering new music on their social media for awhile now, but their latest offering "Head Underwater" is an awesome track with a great video. (I'm told it's gotten over 15k hits on FaceBook, but they could use a few views on YouTube.)

**Total disclosure. I'm friends with the drummer of the band, but I don't really talk up music I don't personally enjoy.**

From where the band came from, and where they are now, it sure sounds like all the pieces are starting to really fit together. There's a terrific cohesion when it comes to "Head Underwater" that really shows a depth of musicianship. The transition from verse to chorus is seamless in and out. When the music drops out a little in the second verse, it perfectly compliments the vocals, and is backed up even more when the guitar work kicks in. It's kind of got a Snow Patrol meets Radiohead/Coldplay kinda vibe, with a bit more of a backbone and some extra punch.

They're local, they're all good guys, and they're damn talented. Plus, watching them play tiny instruments underwater if pretty funny. Especially Mike.

Make sure you check out their website, TheRacerMusic.com, on September 9th. That's when the new album drops. You can also hit up the regular favorites to give it a listen. iTunes, Spotify, etc. (If you really like the album, just buy the damn thing. It's less than the cost of 2 fancy Starbucks coffees.)
