The Racer performed to a packed house at Newburgh Brewing Company last week for the August installment of WRRV Sessions.

The alternative rock band features Pete Marotta on vocals, Mike Esserman on guitar, Steve Kondracki on guitar, Mike Perri on drums and Eric Sosler on bass. The Monroe natives independently released Strangers We'll Become in 2010 and Passengers in 2013.

They recently finished work on their third album, Giant, which was produced by Hannon. The Racer has played at SXSW, Summerfest, MOVE Music Fest, Whiskey a Go Go, the Key Club, the Mercury Lounge and the Knitting Factory, among others, and have opened for bands including Matt and Kim, The Spill Canvas and Collective Soul. They can next be seen performing during a residency at Piano's in Manhattan on Tuesday nights in September.

Fun fact: The Racer's music was featured on MTV's Jersey Shore at the moment Marlboro's own Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi gets punched in the face. See, Hudson Valley? Our little slice of New York is all kinds of interconnected.
