Mayday Parade have announced a new EP and dropped its first single.

Out Of Here will be released via Rise Records on Oct.16. The single "Lighten Up, Kid" is out now. Check out the video for the song toward the end of this post.

Out Of Here comprises three new tracks - "Lighten Up, Kid," "First Train" and "I Can Only Hope" - and follows the release of standalone single "It Is What It Is" earlier this year. The band's last album, Sunnyland, dropped in 2018.

Speaking about the new song, drummer Jake Bundrick said the following:

“'Lighten Up Kid' is about trying to find yourself and the strength to keep fighting for what you believe in. It's about being or feeling cut down and hung out to dry but standing up for yourself in the end.”

Out Of Here was recorded in March of 2020 with longtime Mayday Parade collaborators Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. Pre-orders for the EP are available via Rise Records here.

"Lighten Up, Kid" Lyrics

Everybody’s got a chance to make it out
I need to find a safe place until I calm down
Or maybe I just need to stand alone somehow
My face turned red, you’re in my head
It’s getting late, it’s time to go
In my head, you’re in my head, you’re in my head
Lighten up a little, locked up, belittled
Until you go insane
Taken for granted until you called my name
Lighten up a little, stuck in the middle
Can’t help but go insane
That bridge is gonna burn before you know
I can’t wait to say I told you so
There’s a ringing in my head that sings so loud
Maybe I’m just getting used to all that sound
Maybe there’s a little poison in the clouds
This could be my chance to make it out
