Man, do we sports fans love to think about dream fight scenarios. It's gone on forever, and it's the essence of the "pound-for-pound" concept. Fight fans can go on and on for hours and argue in circles about how Floyd Mayweather, Jr. would have fared against "Sugar" Ray Leonard or Roberto Duran, or how, all things equal, Roy Jones Jr. in his prime would have boxed circles around, say, Evander Holyfield.

But it's certainly not limited to just the same sport; one need only look back to the abysmal (but wildly profitable) bout between Muhammad Ali and professional wrestler Antonio Inoki and the fight between Chuck Wepner and Andre the Giant to see how thirsty the world has always been for people to see the different styles of fighting take each other on.

That's why there's been so much buzz in the sports world over the proposed fight between Conor McGregor, UFC Featherweight Champion and world-class trash talker, and the unbeaten man that seems to be able to print money and pay-per-view buys, Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

It seems unlikely to happen for a number of reasons (UFC would have to get a huge cut, considering Conor is under contract, there's severe doubt about Conor's ability to hang on any level with Floyd's boxing, Conor still has yet to defend his Featherweight belt, either person winning would expose his discipline as inferior to the other, etc. etc.), but Floyd Mayweather, according to TMZ, is now offering Conor McGregor up to $50 million (!) for this fight.

So, if by some insanity the fight does happen, there are about $50 million reasons why.
