Mets Announce Adorable New Addition To Organization
The New York Mets have added a cute, cuddly, adorable new face to the team, and he happens to walk on all fours and can't really swing a bat.
Meet Howie!
This it not the first time the Mets organization has had a four-legged affiliate, but the new addition is appropriately named in honor of their legendary broadcaster, Howie Rose.
Howie marks the third future service dog with the Mets, following Seaver in 2023 and Shea back in 2022.

America's VetDogs and a New MetsVetDog
MetsVetDog, since being implemented in 2022, is a program that allows a future service dog, while still a puppy, to spend a designated amount of time, typically 14-18 months, with the Mets organization in order to socialize in a busy environment. Like his predecessors, little 11 week old Howie will be able to spend time with players, front-office staff, fans, and even Mr. and Mrs. Met around Citi Field.

The Mets were the first MLB team to affiliate with America's VetDogs, not simply sponsoring a service dog, helping to raise one and prepare it to work with a veteran. Since partnering in 2023, the Mets have provided $210,000 in grants to the organization, this according to USA Today.
America's VetDogs, the larger program that began back in 2002, has a mission to 'help those who have served our country honorably live with dignity and independence' through the assistance of a service dog.
Meet Howie, The New MetsVetDog
Adorable 11 week old Howie, a yellow lab puppy, is officially working with the Mets via the Amazin' Mets Foundation and America's VetDogs partnership. He'll spend a great deal of time this season learning basic training and socialization from the team and staff before going on to a placement with a veteran or first responder.
