For those unfamiliar, T.A.R.A. is a local nonprofit that has been around since 2002 and works to combat the pet overpopulation problem.

Our mission is to reduce the numbers of unwanted cats and dogs coming into a system that cannot hold them. There are only two ways to do this; one is to up the killing rate, which has been done unsuccessfully for decades, and the other is to reduce the birth rate. We here at TARA have always opted for the latter.
Our desire is to promote the betterment of all animals that suffer due to the lack of proper care, nutrition, kindness, and the like. Spaying and neutering addresses the root cause; too many cats and dogs multiplying without enough good and lasting homes.
