Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley received a tip in regards to a bomb threat in Monticello, NY around 11:55 a.m. this morning. That information was soon confirmed by the Monticello Central School District as they issued a statement in regard to all staff and students being evacuated today, Friday, December 1st due to a generalized bomb threat against the district.

Monticello CSD Evacuated December 1st Due to Bomb Threat

On the morning of Friday, Dec. 1, Monticello CSD administrators learned of a generalized bomb threat towards its schools. Out of an abundance of caution, the district is following the protocols outlined in its safety plan, and evacuating all school buildings. Students and staff are being evacuated to reunification sites.

Students will either be bussed home from those sites, or parents may opt to pick them up at those sites. Please do not go to any school building. Building administrators will be contacting families shortly with more specific information for reunification. This is a fluid situation, more information will be shared as it becomes available.

As of 11:07 a.m. Friday morning, it was announced that middle school and high school walkers and student drivers will be dismissed directly from the school. Elementary school walkers will be bussed to reunification site, and reunification will be coordinated with parents there.

By 12:04 p.m. All MHS students in BOCES CTE programs will remain at BOCES, until busses are available to transport them home. Parents of CTE students are welcome to pick their students up at BOCES if they choose.

This bomb threat follows a bomb threat that was issued in the Newburgh School District on Monday, November 20th. Rye, Pelham and Bronxville School Districts also received similar threats as of late.

The Chatwal Lodge in Sullivan County

The Chatwal Lodge in White Lake, New York located on the banks of the 833-acre Toronto Reservoir in Sullivan County was just honored by Outside. The Chatwal Lodge made Outside's Travel Awards 2023 by winning the Mountain category. It was part of Outside recognizing the Catskills and the New York State Park which covers approximately 700,000 acres.
