A sleepy little town is holding one of the coolest underground music festivals and you're in luck because it's held right here in the Hudson Valley.

Spring for Sound held in Millerton, New York was created by two friends just looking to highlight the musical talents of their community. The event, formerly known as Fall for Sound was born six years ago when Kristin Panzer and Mimi Ramos (musicians themselves) wanted to offer a platform for musicians and entertainers.

What started with just four bands has now grown into (in my opinion) one of the best local underground music festivals around. This year's line-up includes over 50 acts, with musicians from all genres. This is one of the reasons I love this festival, there is everything from blue grass to electronica to rap, country, new age and more. The festival genuinely lives up to it's creators ambitions.

"Spring For Sound is an organic, homegrown labor of love and showcase of the musical talents and tastes of Millerton, NY and surrounds.  This year marks the sixth anniversary of Spring For Sound and now we have over fifty sets on multiple stages, with music all day long and the streets filled with visitors to our town who come out to listen to the music and have a good time.  "

Spring For Sound will be talking over the streets of Millerton on Saturday, June 11, rain or shine. Bands will start rocking out at 10am and events run through midnight. The other amazing note to make about this event is that it's all done as a fundraiser to assist the work of the North East Community Center. So come out and enjoy some great music, in a great setting and support a wonderful cause.

Spring for Sound is an all day, all ages event open to the public. Tickets are on-sale now and are only $20 in advance, $30 at the door. For more information check out www.springforsound.com .

Also check out a little preview of some of the acts below. Remember this is only a hand full. There will be over 50 acts so come out and enjoy.
