A recently opened playground in Dutchess County is breaking new grounds, bringing fun and recreation to children of all abilities.

The project called Julie's Jungle has been in the works for over a year and last weekend they saw all their hard work come to fruition as they celebrated their grand opening. The playground is the first of it's kind in the area, located in East Fishkill at The Lime Kiln Recreation Facility.

According to their website Julie's Jungle was created to build "a playground for all children, no matter their abilities, ages or interests." The play ground includes accessible routes and paths, ramps, spacious decks, short stair heights, braille play panels and several other special features that cant be found at any other nearby playgrounds.

"The nearest adaptive playground is in the northern-most tip of the county, approximately 50 miles from East Fishkill. Statistics from the most recent census reveal that there are more than 2,500 disabled children in Dutchess County. There is a definite need for a place where all children can play and interact with friends and family." - www.juliesjungle.org
