‘Urgent’ Fundraiser For Spectacular Hudson Valley Business
A Hudson Valley business that has been serving the community for nearly 15 years is facing foreclosure. Now, their loyal customers are rallying to help.
A small business may be one of the hardest endeavors to undertake. Operating under perfect conditions is difficult enough, but added hurdles can be a catastrophe. Unfortunately, several businesses have recently learned this truth firsthand in Newburgh, NY.
Newburgh, NY Businesses in Need of Support

Newburgh Art Supply in Newburgh, NY
Newburgh Art Supply, located at 5 Grand St in Newburgh, NY, first opened their doors in 2008. Founders Michael Gabor and Gerardo Castro spent the next 16 years serving the local community until the untimely passing of Mr. Castro in 2024. Now, a GoFundMe has been organized to help keep the local gem open.
GoFundMe for Newburgh Art Supply
"Michael Gabor, co-founder of Newburgh Art Supply, urgently needs your help", the fundraiser begins. "Since being forced to leave steady employment to care for Gerardo and be by his side through his illness, back taxes were being paid through payment agreements with the city of Newburgh until the city refused to accept them. Foreclosure proceedings have commenced and the deadline for a decision by a judge is August 26".
The GoFundMe project has a goal of $80,000, which founders say will complete the payment of back taxes and hopefully avoid the dire prospect of foreclosure. To make matters more urgent, Michael Gabor lives on the premises as well, making this both his business and his home. The campaign has currently raised nearly $20,000.
Hudson Valley residents looking to help keep an independent art supply store open and a local entrepreneur housed in Orange County, NY can donate to the campaign here.
