$3000 on a $43.50 tab? Was is great service? Are you thanking the waitress for giving you the Heimlich Maneuver? Or was it because you simply wanted to "Pay It Forward"?

According to an ABCNews story, a man named Mike, who is a regular at this restaurant, heard that the waitress was facing eviction from her apartment and simply wanted to help out. Mike gave the tip in honor of the Rees Spect Life Foundation. A foundation that was founded by a former teacher of his.

"I just had also been constantly thinking about for quite some time my teacher's project and this foundation, and I thought it was an appropriate time," Mike said. The tip seemed to make a big impact on the life of the waitress.

"She really needed it and has been so happy since then, so I feel I did the right thing," Mike told ABC News. "She said she was going to devote herself to the foundation and continue to pay it forward."
