Stephanie Courtney has made a name for herself with nationwide commercials and she has some big connections to the Hudson Valley.

Hearing about any kind of insurance is never fun, it's overwhelming, you're usually paying a ton for it and I think it's fair to say it's pretty boring stuff. One larger-than-life personality has somehow managed to make hearing about insurance fun, she's become a household name and she has some connections to our area here.

What huge insurance and television personality has some big Hudson Valley connections?

You have seen her at some point on television, trust me. She has brown hair, bright red lipstick, and a hysterical personality.

Any guesses?

Here's a BIG HINT:

It's Flo! Flo from the Progressive Insurance Company has become an icon by doing their commercials. We all know her as Flo, but there is a real person behind that character (even if it's hard to picture). Courtney started appearing as Flo in the commercials in 2008 and developed a huge fanbase amongst viewers.

Here's how she's connected to the Hudson Valley. Her real name is Stephanie Courtney and she's from Stony Point, she graduated from North Rockland High School and even attended Binghamton University. Little did we know Flo was here living her life in the Hudson Valley.

Stephanie eventually went out to Los Angeles, hit it big and became the coolest lady to represent Progressive Insurance.

Fun fact: Stephanie Courtney has appeared in over 1,000 commercials for the company and has become a local legend.

It's pretty cool to find out she's from the Hudson Valley and her roots started right here. We hope she comes back to the area someday and visits. Stephanie (Flo) should do a meet and greet somewhere here and I can promise many residents would show up to see her.

Speaking of the area, here are some pretty creepy woods that would be perfect to film a horror movie in, maybe there could be a new Progressive Commercial with Flo in one of these spots?
