"Rare" Weather Coming to the Hudson Valley This Weekend

For what feels like possibly the first time this season, conditions that meteorologists are describing as "rare" will combine for an epic weekend in the Hudson Valley and New York State as a whole.

The beginning of the summer was marred with rain, and many Hudson Valley residents were not surprised to learn that nearly every weekend between November 2024 and May 2025 included at least some sort of precipitation. And that's not all...

A Wet Spring and Smoky Summer in the Hudson Valley

When the rain disappeared, it was unfortunately replaced by its opposite. Large wildfires in Canada sent massive amounts of smoke down to the United States, with nearly constant air quality warnings in New York from the Department of Environmental Conservation.

"Rare" Weather Combination in the Hudson Valley This Weekend

Now, in the waning weeks of summer, and with the school year right around the corner, the National Weather Service has shared some positive news. A pairing of events they are calling "rare" are set to make a memorable weekend (below).

Clear, Smoke Free Skies in the Northeast

As the NWS shared, the northeast United States is not only experiencing a break in clouds and humidity, but a respite from Canadian wildfire smoke as well. Now the decision is what to do on such a stellar weekend.

Orange County, NY residents wouldn't be blamed for using the beautiful weather as an excuse to hop on a real life trapeze in downtown Newburgh. A waterfront restaurant would be a good choice as well. Check out some great options below.
