Record Store Day Announces Three New Dates for 2020

Over the last few weeks, we have seen many things have to change and adapt, one of those things making changes is Record Store Day. Record Store Day is usually found twice a year, once in April and then again on Black Friday in November.

For 2020, Record Store Day was to take place on April 18, 2020. With the Covid-19 restrictions and changes, that was changed.

Before we get into the new dates, what is Record Store Day? How about one of the coolest things ever invented for music nerds? To celebrate (honor, remember that they exist) and to give people a look at to a time honored tradition of going to a record store (for the purposes of this article a record is a vinyl disc that has little grooves in it that unlocks music magic when it is played).

Record Store Day will have limited releases, some on vinyl, some on cassette of music from your favorite artists. Each store, will get just a few copies of these releases. So you have to plan to get their early to make sure that you get the best pick.

What will these special musical one time release nuggets be? We won't find out until June 1, but they are always so cool and interesting (yes, that is the music geek in me geeking out and I don't even have a clue as to what is going to be released!).

• August 29
• September 26
• October 24

Remember to log the above dates on your calendar, with enough advance time for you to be able to stalk the lists and plan your shopping. One other thing to keep in mind, Record Store Day is in team with local, independent music sellers, not the big chains. When you buy these rare music items, you are also supporting local small businesses in your community.
