While some are excited for it, this time of year can become very difficult for a lot New York residents.

The change of seasons can really be struggle for people and not everyone enjoys it. The picture below is already making me extremely nauseous and disgusted.....

I'm just going to come right out and say it., I don't like any season besides summer. I live for the warm days, extra daylight, swimming, beach/lake days, spending as much time outside as possible and all the amazing stuff that comes with it. I can never get enough of the summer and never once have I wished it was another season. Once August 1st hits I start literally getting very anxious and DREAD the sight of pumpkins, PSL, apples, cider, apple cider donuts, fall decor, orchards and anything fall related. I always tell me friends that if you see my drinking a PSL and picking pumpkins please call for medical help ASAP.

All of that stuff just means that the DOOM known as winter (EW) will be here before we know it and say goodbye to anything fun. My world just can't handle that at all....

I've been and felt this way about seasons since I was little kid (my parents tried to get me to go sledding a few times and I just sat down and started crying) LOL. Whenever I mention my seasonal issues to people they kind of just laugh it off, they say it really doesn't matter that much it's a small change and how could seasons bother someone so much? IT DOES TRUST ME. Turns out there are a lot more people who feel the same way and there's even a medical term that explains it.

What exactly is Seasonal Depression and who suffers from it?

The real term for it is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and it's a type of depression that's related to the change of seasons. Many people feel like they have no energy and are extra moody in the fall and winter months and the symptoms tend to go away when it hits early spring and into the summer months (no surprise).

How bad is Season Depression with in New York?

Not great I can tell you that, but lets check out some other spots first.

According to officials, the states with the highest rates of seasonal depression are:

  • Alaska
  • Vermont
  • New Hampshire

I can promise you this, those places above will never be on my list of places to check out and you'll never catch me booking a vacation there.

Other states throughout the country have been ranked from 1 to 50 and here's where they land when it comes to how high the levels of seasonal depression are:

  • #11 Rhode Island
  • #21 Connecticut
  • #27 Nebraska
  • #30 New York
  • #49 Florida- Seriously who could ever be seasonally depressed in Florida?

This is also not good, Syracuse, New York was voted #5 for one of the most seasonally depressed cities in the country. Not good...

So SAD is a real issue, make sure you take care of yourself when the seasons change and hopefully we have a mild winter. I've already started my countdown to next summer and hopefully it makes the time pass quicker.

The Craziest Pizzas in the Hudson Valley

I asked the Hudson Valley "What is the craziest kind of pizza you have ever had in the Hudson Valley? Where did you get it?" There are some amazing answers that are sure to make your mouth water and your tummy rumble! Since we weren't able to get pictures for all of these pies, we turned to Canva AI Magic Studio to generate pictures of the pizza that you described. Some of the pictures look pretty accurate! Others... well, you'll just have to see for yourself!
