Adam Lazarus's latest book, Hail to the Redskins, documents an era of huge personalities--before they were censored by concerns over their marketability and image, and it does so in an absolutely fascinating and wholly compelling way.

I grew up in a household of Giants fans and developed into a fan of the Ravens myself (hey, I've gotta have someone to root for in both the NFC and the AFC--sue me) so I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the Redskins. But I am a fan of great sports stories, tales of how players and teams defeat the odds, and the way a group of completely different personalities can form like Voltron into a winning combination.

That's exactly what this is: a book about a team that by all rights shouldn't have worked but did, and did so remarkably. We talk about that, along with how the sports industry landscape has changed the way we view athletes, and whether or not the Redskins will change their controversial name.

Hail to the Redskins: Gibbs, the Diesel, the Hogs, and the Glory Days of D.C.'s Football Dynasty is available 9/1 through Amazon and all other retailers.
