"Chopped" judge and CIA grad Amanda Freitag talks to Deuce about her new show with Ty Pennington, American Diner Revival, as well as her love of Hudson Valley diners.

A good diner is important in American culture, especially up here in the Hudson Valley. It seems to be the hub of the community, the meeting place, the reliable standby--the place you know you can always grab something good and comforting to eat.

So with their new show, American Diner Revival, celebrated chef Amanda Freitag and design makeover tycoon Ty Pennington team up to revitalize and restore old diners across the United States.

As a Jersey girl and a Culinary Institute grad, Amanda certainly knows not only about diners but knows the very diners you and I love. We talk about what makes a good diner, how important the diner is to American culture, and why that little cup of cole slaw is the greatest thing ever.

American Diner Revival is on Food Network, Friday nights at 10:30.
