Ulster Welcome Center Announces Grand Opening
The Walkway Over The Hudson has a new Welcome Center on the Highland side and it's time for the public to start enjoying all it has to offer. On Thursday, June 28th, join the Commissioner of Parks and representatives from the Walkway for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new facility includes a plaza with seating, food concession area, public restrooms and offices for administrative personnel. It's all part of Governor Cuomo's 'NY Parks 2020' initiative, a multi-year plan to make New York Parks more accessible. NY State put more than $4 million towards the project while donations covered the other $1 million needed.
The more than one-mile Walkway Over The Hudson draws more than 500,000 visitors annually and the Welcome Centers will only add to the experience.
Work on the new Welcome Center on the Dutchess County side is underway and is expected to be completed around this time next summer.
