My New Favorite Stress Relief: Breaking Stuff in Poughkeepsie
I think we can ALL agree that life these days is stressful; nobody is exempt, everyone has their 'stuff.' Now we all deal with said stuff in different ways, right? For some people maybe it's a night out with friends, for others it can be a solo night in on the couch with a good movie and a bottle of wine, and for others, well maybe breaking some stuff will do the trick?

Poughkeepsie Galleria Welcomes Wreck Room HV
Last month we broke the news of the latest addition to the Poughkeepsie Galleria, a wreck room located on the upper level near Macy's. Well, they've officially opened their doors, holding their soft opening the first weekend in November, and now officially welcoming 'wreckers' through reservations and walk-ins seven days a week.
Their mission is simple, but perhaps is deeper than you might think.
Wreck Room Hudson Valley is Poughkeepsie's ultimate destination for stress relief, fun, and connection. Founded with a mission to give back to the community and promote mental wellness, we offer a safe space to let loose, smash everyday items, and leave your worries behind! Whether you're blowing off steam solo, bonding with friends, or team-building with coworkers, Wreck Room Hudson Valley turns stress into smiles- one satisfying smash at a time.

I Felt The Stress Leaving My Body, One Satisfying Smash At A Time
I had done a wreck room (actually I think it was technically called a rage room where I smashed things in MA years ago), and when I heard about Wreck Room HV opening in Poughkeepsie, I knew I needed to go, stat.
Together with our friends (remember Sarah who used to do middays on WRRV? Us former midday gals stick together), my daughter and I planned a fun little Saturday evening stress relief session breaking stuff.
From booze bottles to TV screens, old electronics and everything in between, we had a BLAST smashing our way through a Saturday night at the mall. When I tell you I could feel the stress leaving my body, with every swing, I mean it.
I actually swung so hard trying to demolish the TV that I ended up destroying my fancy hazmat suit in the process. I blame it on my switch from the metal pipe to the crowbar...or maybe it was the force of my pent up stress...
For those with questions, yes there's a waiver, yes those under 18 need parental permission, and yes I was absolutely in there supervising everything my daughter did. You can find out more here.
Moral of the story, next time you're looking for something fun to do to blow off some steam, Wreck Room HV has certainly got you covered.
