This time of year everyone is looking to kick back and relax with their friends and family and what better way to do it than with an adult beverage. WRRV is helping to give you some ideas with "The 12 Days of Cocktails.” Here is day two, it is called 'Henry's Last Word' from Henry's at the Farm, Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa in Milton:

Henry’s Last Word

Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz Greenhook Dry Gin
  • ½ oz Chartreuse
  • ¾ oz Luxardo Maraschino
  • ¾ oz fresh squeezed Lime Juice
  • ¼ oz simple syrup

Directions:
Fill a shaker with ice. Add all of the ingredients and shake, for 20 seconds or till chilled. Strain into an chilled martini glass. Garnish with staked ½ moon lime and cherry.

What is Chartreuse? Pronounced, shar-TROOZ. If you are really getting into cocktails, you will want to go ahead and splurge on this one ingredient. Not all liquor stores stock it because of the price. Occasionally you can find it in a 200ml bottle, which will run you anywhere from $15-$20. More often it is in a 375ml bottle for @$40. Just remember, a little of this goes a long way. It is a herbal liqueur that supposedly has over 125 ingredients and comes in two colors: green and the sweeter and less potent yellow. Don't want to spring for the costly stuff, try Strega, Benedictine or Drambuie. The drink might not taste exactly the same, but will be close.
