We see a lot of strange things on the subway. So when something so foul gets a reaction out of even the most hardened riders, you know it's pretty gross.

Recent footage of an MTA train car littered with trash has gone viral, and now commuters and MTA officials want answers. The story was first reported by CBS2. The southbound 2 train in the Bronx is covered can be seen covered in garbage and filth spread out in almost every direction.

When I got on the train it was just something indescribable. Garbage shopping carts, garbage bags. The garbage is on the seats, is on the floor. The smell was unbearable.

The video raises concern over the homeless using the subways as a living space. CBS even took matters directly to Mayor Bill de Blasio, who said we'll be seeing more police presence on the trains.

The MTA says they launching a full investigation.
